AideRSS Firefox / GoogleReader extension + Thematic PostRank
Labels: firefox, google, keepingup, rss, tools, trends, videoFor those who appreciate the hive mind: If you use Google Reader and Firefox and are interested in the most relevant articles of the day, check out AideRss, a GreaseMonkey script that uses PostRank to score, filter and track performance of any RSS feed. Cool.
I've installed the script and like the way it let's me look at the hottest items in my reader, though it does seem to work best on folders instead of the 'all items' view - but that may because I've got 1000+ items for it to sort through....

Hi Marianne -- thanks for the write-up!
With the new functionality we launched last week, the way the extension works in Google Reader is a bit different now. When you're looking at a single feed's items, Feed-based PostRank is displayed, which ranks items based on the site's own past performance.
However, when you look at a folder's contents, Thematic PostRank is displayed, which ranks items from different sources in the folder against each other.
I see the difference, Melanie, and it makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
