In Honor of RSS Awareness Day: What is RSS and Why Should I Care?

In Honor of RSS Awareness Day I've updated a 2005 online course I wrote called "What is RSS and Why Should I Care?" and ported it over to Google Docs. If you haven't yet discovered the awesomeness of RSS feeds, it's still mighty relevant and useful information. Click here to begin.

Note that the delivery method for this presentation is based on a concept by Librarian.net's Jessamyn West and was created in HTML using CSS. I adapted the presentation for Google Documents and you are welcome to use it as your own template, with credit. Changes to the frame borders and headings may be made via 'Edit > CSS.'

Very nice! Love how you styled the Document with CSS (in Google Docs).

I didn't know 2008 was the Year of RSS. Interesting. I like the way the course is laid out -- moving from topic to topic quite easily.
RSS is an amazing innovation, but I find teachers have a hard time getting their heads around it. They can't quite grasp that RSS allows you (me) to pull information to me, and so that is a time-saver (and we all need more time).
Thanks for sharing this resource.

Kevin, I'm a firm believer in aggregated topic searching, check out this post for more. It's the PULL of information that makes RSS really useful.

Thanks to you both for your nice comments about the course!
